SmartWaste helped L&Q with sustainability on internal build service projects, managing its carbon footprint through energy and water usage, and waste from site.
L&Q is one of the UK’s leading housing associations and residential property developers, housing around 250,000 people in more than 105,000 homes. The organisation is focused on reducing its carbon footprint and creating sustainable places to live whilst it builds out its 32,000 home development pipeline.

At L&Q we believe passionately that people’s health, security and happiness depend on where they live. We house around 250,000 people in more than 105,000 homes, primarily across London and the South East – but we’re more than just a registered charitable housing association.

Solutions

SmartWaste has supported L&Q’s sustainability commitments on their internal build service projects. Providing visibility of the carbon footprint by managing energy and water usage, and waste from site.

SmartWaste has helped L&Q in several ways. Initially implemented to manage Site waste management plans the scope of use has grown considerably. L&Q have deployed the SmartWaste API for collecting data from contractors. This has proven to be a big plus for L&Q as it has reduced their administrative burden.

With sustainability targets set in the business plan, SmartWaste monitors performance against key performance indicators (KPIs). Further expansion of the SmartWaste implementation will capture more carbon data, on materials used on schemes and staff and operatives coming to site.
